Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, a former Minister of Finance, and seven others will appear in an Accra High Court on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) stated that it will seek the required court orders to serve the charge sheet on the fugitives, who were outside of the jurisdiction.

The suspects were charged with 78 charges of corruption and corruption-related offenses involving the SML Ghana contract.

Ernest Akore, Chef de Cabinet to Ofori-Atta; Emmanuel Kofi Nti, a former GRA Commissioner-General; Rev. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, a former GRA Commissioner-General; Isaac Crentsil, a former GRA Customs Division Commissioner and General Manager of SML; Kwadwo Damoah, a former GRA Customs Division Commissioner; and Evans Adusei, Chief Executive of SML, are among the others charged.

The accused individuals were accused of conspiring to conduct a crime of directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process in order to gain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract, according to the charge sheet.

Sections 23(1) of the Criminal Offenses Act, 1960 (Act 29) and 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) are allegedly violated by the offense.

The accusations come after months of investigation into contracts between Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, the GRA, and SML.
