A laundry attendant was placed under police detention by the Adenta Circuit Court for allegedly disseminating false information meant to instill fear and terror.
The 30-year-old accused, Ahmed Hassan Abdul Razzaq, allegedly posted a video on his TikTok account, @breakingnewsghana, in which he claimed that two military officers were planning to kill President John Dramani Mahama.
Razzaq was ordered to stay in detention until his next hearing on February 9, 2026, after the judge rejected his petition.
Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo is in charge of the prosecution.
The Ghana Police Service is the complainant in this case, based on the information provided.
Razzaq allegedly released a video on January 20, 2026, identifying Sergeants Amoh and Joseph as the officers implicated in the alleged conspiracy.
The next day, he was taken into custody in the Greater Accra Region in Adjiringanor.
Razzaq acknowledged creating the video in his cautionary statement, but he claimed not to know the police personally and to have never met them.
He stated that the reason for his publication was that he “chanced upon a post on social media” indicating the assassination plot.
But he was unable to point investigators in the direction of the purported post’s origin.
