Hajia Kubura Salifu, a female pilgrim from Ghana, passed away while doing the 2026 Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG).

According to a statement released by PAOG on Thursday, May 29, the 52-year-old pilgrim passed away in Mina after suffering from a severe sickness after performing the Arafat ceremony, which is a crucial Hajj rite.

According to the Office, she was buried in compliance with Islamic customs for pilgrims who have passed away after her family was notified.

This raises the overall number of Ghanaian pilgrims who have perished during this year’s Hajj to three, according to the statement.

The Ghanaian Pilgrims Affairs Office sent its sympathies to the grieving family, friends, and relatives and asked for support and consolation during this time of loss.

It also emphasised the spiritual significance of dying during the Hajj, pointing out that, according to Islamic tradition, pilgrims who pass away in Mina will continue to receive benefits for their journey until the Day of Judgement.

The Office prayed that Allah would grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus, pardon her, and give her family courage and patience.
