The death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered washed ashore at Hutchland Beach in the early hours of June 12, 2026, is being investigated by police at the UCC District Command.

According to authorities, there were no obvious signs of violence at the scene.

An emergency response team was sent to the beach after the finding was reported to the police at approximately 3:15 a.m.

The body, which is thought to be that of a woman between the ages of 25 and 30, was discovered lying prone with blood seen seeping from the nose, according to preliminary results.

Contrary to initial rumours that might have suggested foul play, the police have emphasised that a thorough investigation at the location showed no obvious signs of violence.

“The body was carefully inspected, and there were no marks of assault on it. Photographs were taken, and the body has since been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for identification and autopsy,” according to the UCC District Police Command.

Since then, the body has been moved to the mortuary at Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for identification, preservation, and post-mortem testing to determine the precise cause of death.

Chief fisherman along the coast have been assigned the responsibility of notifying their local villages in order to help identify the deceased.

The autopsy is anticipated to provide crucial clarification on whether the death was caused by drowning, natural causes, or other underlying issues, according to police, who said investigations are still underway.
