Under the Big Push Programme, the government is launching an ambitious project to build two of the longest bridges across bodies of water in Ghana’s history.

These include the Dambai Bridge (1.5 km) in the Oti Region and the Afram Bridge (3.6 km) in the Eastern Region.

Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister for Roads and Highways, inspected continuing Dambai Bridge construction last week during his tour of the Oti Region.

The project is expected to be finished in May 2029, having started in January 2026. The project is moving along at a steady pace.

Hon. Agbodza asked the contractor, Messrs. Maripoma Enterprise Limited, to closely follow the project timeframes and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finishing the project on time.

The bridge will improve regional connections, make it easier for people and commodities to move, and promote socioeconomic development in Dambai and the neighbouring areas, he said, adding that it is a vital investment for the Oti Region.
