Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, has officially opened the University of Professional Studies’ stunning twin tower multipurpose lecture hall in Accra.

The ten-story multipurpose Twin Tower building contains lecture halls, offices for lecturers, meeting and reading rooms, commercial and residential spaces, and auxiliary facilities for the expanding student body at a university that has quickly emerged as a top provider of higher education in both academic and professional fields.

President Akufo-Addo invited graduates to embrace the three guiding values of hard work, excellence, and patriotism during the Fifth Session of the 16th Congregation of the University’s School of Graduate Studies prior to the launching.

In his address to the congregation, the President emphasized the value of collaborations between academic institutions and government agencies in creating a more robust and resilient Ghana. He also pointed to UPSA’s impressive development as evidence of the university’s dedication to turning out graduates who are not only competent but also changemakers in their communities.

In addition to defining education as a great equalizer and the most reliable tool to halt the cycle of poverty and reduce inequality, he stated that it plays a crucial part in the country’s development plan.

“Over the past eight years, my government has prioritised free secondary high school education, ensuring that every Ghanaian child, regardless of background, has access to quality education.”

“Our commitment does not stop there”, he continued, “we are actively pursuing reforms to enhance tertiary education in Ghana, improving access, governance and quality. These efforts aim to position institutions like UPSA to compete on the global stage while equipping students with the tools to thrive.”

In addition, President Akufo-Addo commended the institution’s outstanding advancements, saying it “continues to redefine professional education in Ghana.”

The University of Professional Studies in Accra, he claimed, “is a shining example of the transformative power of education and vision. From its humble beginnings as the Institute of Professional Studies, to its present status as one of Ghana’s leading institutions of higher learning, UPSA’s journey has been remarkable.”

This development, in his opinion, is sufficient evidence of the commitment, tenacity, and visionary leadership that have come to be associated with professional training, academic success, and producing graduates who are prepared to face the challenges of a dynamic and quickly changing world.
