The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has been urged by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, to convene with interested parties in order to establish a quota for the indigenous Ga population living in the James Town Harbor catchment region.
He also asked the authorities to use the four-year maintenance contract between the Chinese and the country to teach the locals some of the unique services needed to keep the harbor growing and developing.
When representatives from the Authority paid him a courtesy call yesterday at his palace in Accra to announce the opening of the James Town Fishing Harbour, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II made the appeal.
The group headed by Ms. Mavis Allotey, the Deputy Project Engineer, stated that the harbor would begin full operation this month.
