Hayford Kofi Baah, a 25-year-old church secretary, has been placed under arrest for allegedly embezzling GH₵300,000 from his church.
According to the authorities, the money was used to pay for his LGBT partner’s university study and Canadian vacation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the money was embezzled from the church’s accounts over an indeterminate amount of time.
Following a comprehensive examination after church leaders allegedly discovered disparities in financial documents, the missing money were found.
According to the investigation, the funds were purportedly used to finance Baah’s partner’s tuition costs and other expenses when she recently traveled to Canada for school.
Baah is assisting authorities with their investigation, according to police, who have confirmed the detention.
