The prosecution has officially closed its case in the trial involving former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, who are facing allegations relating to the dissipation of GH¢49.1 million.
The closure of the prosecution’s case means the State has completed presenting its evidence in an attempt to prove the charges brought against the two accused persons.
Defence to File Submission of No Case to Answer
Defence lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea has indicated that the accused persons will file a submission of no case to answer after challenging the evidence presented by the prosecution.
The defence is also expected to raise concerns over the investigator’s alleged failure to independently verify some of the key claims relied upon by the prosecution during the trial.
Following the closure of the State’s case, the court has directed the defence team to file its submission by September 25, 2026.
The prosecution has subsequently been given 14 days to respond to the defence’s submission.
Court Adjourns Case to November 5
The court has adjourned the matter to November 5, 2026, when it is expected to deliver a ruling on the submission.
The outcome could determine whether the accused persons have a case to answer based on the evidence presented by the prosecution.
