The Government of Ghana spent GH¢194.36 billion in 2025, 24% lower than the targeted amount, the January 2026 Monetary Policy Report by the Bank of Ghana has disclosed.

The target for the year was estimated at GH¢250.311 billion. Key spending details include:

· Compensation of Employees: GH¢71.27 billion (1.8% above target)

· Interest Payments: GH¢46.21 billion (below the GH¢57.87 billion target)

· Grants: GH¢50.81 billion (3.7% above target)

· Capital Expenditure: GH¢12.98 billion (58.7% below target)

· Goods and Services: GH¢5.27 billion (16.8% below target)

· Other Expenditure: GH¢14.5 billion (59.4% below target)

The reduced spending was attributed to lower domestic interest rates, currency appreciation, and government restraint on discretionary spending.
