The son of a landlord who reportedly killed his tenant’s son and wounded the tenant and the tenant’s daughter at Adankwame in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti region has been remanded by the Akropong District Court.

Emmanuel Agyei, a 35-year-old farmer, is accused of murder and two charges of inflicting damage. His pleading was ignored.

Inspector Alexander Agbekpornu, the prosecution, asked the court to hold the accused so that additional inquiries could be made.

Thus, the accused was remanded to police custody by the court presided over by His Worship Alfred Rockson Kpodo, with a new court date of May 22, 2023.

The suspect was apprehended after he allegedly killed the 1-and-a-half-year-old boy, Samuel Amoh, and wounded the toddler’s father, Obed Asamoah, and sister, Bridget Owusu, 19, with a machete.

The renter was attacked while holding his now-deceased son at the time of the argument. The landlord’s son had attempted to prevent the tenant from accessing his room by arguing that the rent had expired as of May 1, 2023.

The attacker slaughtered the father and son before turning his blade on the tenant’s daughter, who had raced to save the victim’s father and younger sibling from the devastating machete slashes.

The same hospital was dispatched to treat all three victims, but the young kid was already dead when he arrived. Janet Owusu, the victims’ mother and wife, told reporters that as the suspect approached his husband and son with the machete, she sprinted outside to call for aid.

She disclosed that the suspect’s mother had previously reported him to the police, but that he had been released on bail just before the event.
