The GaDangme Coalition Against Land Injustice and the Coalition of La Associations are poised to start a series of protests to voice their disapproval of what they believe to be unethical land expropriation by political entities in the Greater Accra Region.
The protests are scheduled to start this Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The Trade Fair site, which includes portions occupied by the Labadi Beach and La Palm Royal Beach Hotels, is of great interest to the coalition.
It claims that the original landowners of these lands have not been paid the required amount by law.
Furthermore, the group has voiced concerns regarding the Prisons Service property at Cantonments, where a private developer intends to utilize a portion of the area for private enterprise and redevelop the facilities.
The Ghana Prisons Service land at Roman Ridge in Accra and the Ghana Prisons Service barracks at Cantonments will be visited by the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament on Tuesday in response to these complaints.
The purpose of this visit is to discuss the alliance’s concerns and look for a solution to the ongoing land issues.
