A schedule of events has been released by the National Celebrations Planning Committee (NCPC) to mark Ghana’s 68th anniversary of independence.

The purpose of the celebrations, which will feature a variety of historical remembrances, educational contests, and a large ceremonial procession, is to inspire patriotism and interest in national history among the populace, especially the younger generation.

On Friday, February 28, the commemoration of the 28th February Crossroad Shooting Incident will kick off the scheduled events.

This yearly celebration honors the memory of three former service members who were shot in 1948 while demonstrating for their rights, an event that was crucial to Ghana’s struggle for independence.
