Under the Big Push Initiative, President Mahama laid the groundwork for the building of the Wa-Han-Tumu-Navrongo and Hamile Road.
More than 260 kilometres of important routes in the Upper West and East Regions are covered by the sod-cutting event. It is the greatest road development project in the northern corridor in recent memory, with a total expenditure of GHc3.7 billion.

Important roads that need to be built include:
• Wa City Centre: Dualization of the Wa–UDS–City Centre Road to ease traffic and beautify the capital.
• Wa Corridors: Wa–Bulenga–Yaala Road (37 km) and Wa–Han Road (22 km of new works, 54 km rehabilitation).
• Regional Links: Tumu–Han–Lawra Road (70 km) and Navrongo–Tumu–Sandema Road (50 km).
• Border Access: Tumu–Hamile Road (15 km),
• Tumu–Sissili–Navrongo Road (15 km), and
• Tumu–Chuchuliga–Navrongo Road (32.6 km).
“These roads have been in deplorable condition for years,” President Mahama said during the ceremony.
Produce transportation has been difficult for farmers. Goods have been lost by traders. Kids have travelled to school for extended periods of time. No longer, though.
We’re shouting, “Enough is enough,” today.
As for the contractors engaged in Big Push projects, Hon. Kwame Agbogza made it plain that “Ghana has changed. Deliver quality, deliver on time, and deliver within budget. There will be no room for shoddy work or inflated claims.”
