Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, a former Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) Board Chairman, and Solomon Asamoah, a former GIIF Chief Executive, have been charged with crimes in connection with the Sky Train contract.

They are accused of knowingly causing the state to suffer a final loss and conspiring to conduct a crime.

The Attorney-General and the Minister of Justice filed a charge sheet on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, stating that they had conspired to willfully cause the Republic to lose US$2 million by causing the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and the Republic to pay Africa Investor Holdings Limited money without authorization, allegedly for the construction of an urban sky train system in Accra that never materialized.

A financial probe of Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi’s term as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF) was announced by the Attorney General in February 2025.

He claimed that the investigation focused exclusively on financial approvals granted when he was employed at GIIF.
