The Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs would support the Tree Crop Development Authority’s (TCDA) operations to the fullest extent possible within its mandate, according to Hon. Jasaw Seidu Godfred, the committee’s chairman.
When the Committee visited TCDA as part of its three-day familiarization trips to other ministries within the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Cocoa Affairs, the Chairman explained this.
TCDA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, told the Committee that among the numerous things the organization does are design floor price systems for cashew, coconut, oil palm, rubber, mango, and shea.

He further disclosed that TCDA is in charge of numerous programs in different parts of Ghana, including the Ghana Tree Crop Diversification Project and the Ghana Private Sector Competitiveness Program.
Dr. Osei Okrah did, however, highlight several difficulties the Authority is facing. They include weak data and information systems, insufficient budget, and a lack of technical and staffing capabilities.
The Committee will continue to visit TCDA and seek to improve collaboration between the Authority and the Committee, according to Committee Chairman Hon. Jasaw Seidu Godfred.
