A preliminary objection to strike out a complaint contesting specific Wesley Girls’ Senior High School orders was rejected by the Supreme Court.

The school’s motion contended that the defendants, the Board of Governors, lacked the legal ability to be sued. It argued that the only people who could be legally sued were the Methodist Church Trustees, who are in charge of the organization.

However, Chief Justice Baffoe-Bonnie’s seven-member panel of the Supreme Court dismissed that claim in a decision rendered on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The Board of Governors is a competent authority that can be sued in this case, the court said, agreeing with arguments presented by Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney General, and Abdul Aziz Gomda, the plaintiff’s attorney.

The court ordered Wesley Girls’ Senior High School to respond to the substantive accusations within two weeks of the verdict.

Since then, the lawsuit has been put on indefinite hold.

Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang, Senyo Dzamefe, Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Issifu Omoro Tanko Amadu, Richard Adjei-Frimpong, and Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei were among the other panellists.
