Ghanaian passports that were lost or destroyed during the recent floods that hit sections of the country will be replaced more quickly, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry sent out a press release on Friday, July 3, 2026, expressing its sincere condolences to everyone impacted by the floods and characterising the catastrophe as one that caused extensive property damage and fatalities.

Additionally, the Ministry reminded impacted communities of its support during the trying time and offered its sympathies to families who had lost loved ones.

The Ministry stated that it has made the decision to expedite the replacement of the impacted travel documents, acknowledging that many Ghanaians may have lost or had their passports destroyed as a result of the flooding.

The Ministry has requested that anyone whose passport was lost or destroyed phone 055 936 8563 between Friday, July 3, and Friday, July 17, 2026.

The Ministry states that those who are impacted will have to give their names, dates of birth, and gender as they appear on their lost or damaged passports.

In order to make follow-up easier, they must also provide their phone numbers.

After obtaining the necessary data, the Ministry stated that it plans to replace all reported lost and damaged passports within a week.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to helping flood victims and stated that it is still committed to helping those impacted and supporting the government’s larger recovery initiatives.
