A simplified procedure intended to make registration more effective and convenient for citizens is anticipated to result in no lines during the next SIM card re-registration operation in Accra, Ghana.

This was declared by Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister of Communication, during his visit to Accra today to visit Margins ID Group (Intelligent Card Production Systems).

Citizens would register their SIM cards online, eliminating the need for in-person trips to registration offices, the minister said.

By automatically verifying citizen information, the technology will cut down on the amount of time spent on manual processing.

The registration process will be more convenient for citizens thanks to this expedited procedure, which will also increase accuracy and save time.

Citizens should anticipate a simple SIM card registration process as the June launch draws near.

Due to low registration rates, the government repeatedly extended the deadline for the SIM card re-registration process, which started in 2021.

All SIM card customers must re-register their cards using their Ghana Card, which is their national identity document, as part of the operation.

Prior to Low registration rates were a problem, causing the government to extend the deadline because millions of active SIM cards were still unregistered. Concerns over data security and the possibility of fraudulent registrations through the mobile app were also voiced by some Ghanaians.
