Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has met with the Ghana Federation of Disability Organizations (GFD) leadership to discuss important issues impacting PWDs in Ghana.
The gathering, which is a component of initiatives to advance disability-inclusive social protection, offered a forum for discussion on the condition of disability support systems and the ministry’s continuous endeavors to guarantee inclusion, equity, and institutional responsiveness.
Clarifying institutional mandates to enforce disability compliance across social policies and public services, expanding access to the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program for individuals with disabilities, and the full implementation of the Disability Act were some of the main topics covered.

The construction of safe residential care facilities for those with severe disabilities calls for long-term caregiver assistance, and heightened awareness of the special requirements of older people with disabilities—particularly those over 60—was also discussed.
The conversation was on children with special needs and disabilities, with a common concern for the gaps in early intervention, inclusive education, and the establishment of disability-friendly environments to promote their participation and growth.
The ministry’s dedication to inclusive program delivery, accountability, and institutional coordination was emphasized by the minister.
Within Ghana’s social protection framework, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey reaffirmed that creating a society in which no child, caregiver, or person with a handicap is left behind continues to be a top goal.
